Es un bello edificio estilo colonial, que en sus inicios fuese de una planta, construida en los decenios 2 y 3 del siglo XIX, con un corredor a lo largo de todo el inmueble y sostenida su techumbre por 12 columnas.

Años más tarde,al carecer la villa de Alvarado un reloj público, con la colaboración popular y con los ingresos del ayuntamiento, se construyó una torre que sobre pasa los 20 metros de altura hasta su remate, el cual se asemeja a un  gran obelisco.

El Palacio Municipal fue concluido durante los años 1897-1949, siendo presidente Don Francisco Zamudio Pizarro; pero se inauguró hasta el primero de enero del año 1900, siendo presidente municipal Don Martín Tejeda.

It is a beautiful colonial-style building, which was originally one-story, built in the 2nd and 3rd decades of the 19th century, with a corridor running along the entire length of the building and its roof supported by 12 columns. 

 Years later, since the town of Alvarado lacked a public clock, with the popular collaboration and with the income of the city council, a tower was built that exceeds 20 meters in height to its top, which resembles a large obelisk. 

 The Municipal Palace was completed during the years 1897-1949, with Don Francisco Zamudio Pizarro being president; but it was inaugurated until January 1, 1900, with Don Martín Tejeda being municipal president.
